Eturnagaram Sanctuary
The sanctuary is located at a distance of around 110 Km from Warangal and 250 Km from Hyderabad . The sanctuary is spread across an area of 806 sq Km and is one of the oldest sanctuaries of Telangana. The sanctuary is situated amidst steep slopes, hills, streams and springs. Dayyam Vagu, A perennial water source flows through the middle of the sanctuary dividing it into almost two halves. The sanctuary is also famous for the Sammakkka Sarakka Jathra, one of the Asia’s largest tribal jahtra, taking place here every two years.
Climate of Eturnagaram Sanctuary
Climate of the sanctuary is usually hot and dry just like the rest of Andhra Pradesh. Summer months are very hot here and temperature can reach easily up to 43 degree Celsius at this time. Annual average rainfall stands at 1000 mm with a sufficient rainfall throughout the year. Winter months are usually pleasant and most of the inhabitants can be seen in their natural habitat during this time. October to April is the perfect time to visit this sanctuary.Flora and Fauna of Eturnagaram Sanctuary
The Etunagaram Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a variety of flora and fauna. It provides shelter to many different animals, birds and plants. To provide nourishment to the vegetation, River Godavari also passes through the sanctuary.Floral population of Eturnagaram Sanctuary includes Riverine Forest and Dry deciduous Teak Forest with Anogeissus, Bamboo, Pterocarpus and Buchanania trees.

Faunal population of Eturnagaram Sanctuary include Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Nilgai, Jackal, Fox, Jungle Cat, Gaur, Tiger, Sambar, Wolf, Panther, Cheetal, Black Buck and Chowsingha. Apart from these inhabitants different varieties of Birds are also found here.
