Jain Temple in Warangal

Jain temple is located at Kolnupaka village at a distance of about 81 Km from Warangal and 78 Km from Hyderabad in the state of Telangana. The temple is popularly known as Kulpakji among the Jains. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavira and was built around 2000 years ago. It is one of the most renowned destinations for Jain community. Many Tirthankaras’ images can be seen in this temple in a decorative way.

History of Jain Temple in Warangal

People believe that Jainism was part of the culture of Telangana before the 4th century. As the temple is 2000 years old, it is quite impossible to find out the exact history of this place, but as per the legends, Bharat Chakravarti built the main temple. Since early times, Kolanupaka was one of the main centres of Jainism. Looking at a rich history of this ancient temple it is easily understood that the place has gone through renovation with the help of 150 artisans employed from Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The statue of Lord Mahavira is made from the single piece of jade and is of 130 centimeters tall. There are eight idols of Tirthankars in the temple on the both sides. Apart from Lord Mahavir, Idols of Mata Padmavati and Lord Simandar Swami are also installed in the temple premises. The temple is made of of marble stones and pillars. The complete temple is built with beautiful carvings to the side’s pillars and roof. A huge bell is also situated at the entrance of the temple.

How to Reach Jain Temple


The Jain temple is located at a distance of about 81 Km from Warangal and is well connected by Road.

By Road: Kolanupaka Bus Station is the nearest bus stop and is located at a distance of about 0.5 Km from the temple.

By Rail: Aler is the nearest Railway station and is located at a distance of about 6 Km from the temple. One can take a bus from here to reach the temple.

While visiting this temple, one must visit Sri Veeranarayana Temple and Sri Someswara Temple, as both of these temples are located at distance of about 1.5 Km and 2 Km respectively from Jain temple.
