Khush Mahal
Khush Mahal was built in the 14th century by Tughlaqs at the site of Karkatiya Palace. The place is a must visit for all the tourists. Khush Mahal is located very near to the Warangal Fort at a distance of about 7 Km from the centre of Warangal city. It is the only building related to the period of Tughlak Dynasty. Although the true reason for building this place is unknown but many believes that the place was used as an auditorium by Shitabh Khan. Khush Mahal is also known as Shitab Khan Mahal.
History of Khush Mahal
During the 14th century Tughlak ended the Kakatiya Dynasty. After their victory over Karkatiya the place was built by Tughlaqs. Many people believe that the place was built upon the old Patiala Complex of Kakatiya Dynasty. Later in the 16th Century, the Mahal was used by the Qutb Shahi Governor of Warangal, Shitabh Khan.Architecture of Khush Mahal
The building is totally influenced by Tughlak architecture. The entire building is constructed out of granite. Its entrance is grand which makes it absolutely stunning in its appearance. Tughlaq architecture can be seen in its slopping walls. There is staircase to the top from where one can see the marvelous view of Warangal Fort as the same is located very close. There is a single spacious chamber with a small storage room on each side inside, once you enter from the arch on the north wall. Although the place is of such architectural importance, no importance is given to preserve it and the only thing you will find inside is the idols or surrounding places including broken fragments from the Jain temples and Svayambhu enclosure.How to Reach at Khush Mahal
