The sanctuary is located at a distance of about 55 Km from Warangal and 230 Km from Hyderabad in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The sanctuary consists of a man-made lake which is known from the name of Pakhal lake. The sanctuary provide a home to many wild animals. The sanctuary was established in 1952 by the rulers of Karkatiya Dynasty. The sanctuary is spread across 860.20 sq km and is very much famous amongst tourists.
Main Attraction of Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary - Pakhal LakePakhal Lake is a beautiful manmade lake located within the Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary. Pakhal Lake spread over an area of 30 sq km. The lake is surrounded by beautiful hills. The lake was built in 1213 A.D. by Ganapathidev, one of the Kakatiyan Rulers. Most of the rulers of earlier dynasties used to build buildings and monuments, but building a lake at that time is a wonder in itself. The lake acts as a favorite place among the migratory birds, making it the best season to visit the place. To enjoy the beauty and charm of this lake, one must spend a moonlit night here.
Climate of Pakhal Wildlife SanctuaryAndhra Pradesh is a hot state in case of climate. Most of the parts of the state are usually hot throughout the year and Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is no exception to this. Miimum and Maximum temperature of the sanctuary varies between 15 degree celcius to 45 degree celcious respectively throughout the year. Winter months are usually pleasant and most of the inhabitants can be seen in their natural habitat during this time. November to June is the best season to visit this sanctuary. Average rainfall of the sanctuary stands at 1225 mm.

Flora and Fauna of any wildlife sanctuary brings life to it, otherwise who would want to go to such place. Pakhal wildlife Sanctuary is home to many species of animals, birds, reptiles and plants. There is a lake in the middle of the sanctuary which provides an ideal habitat for the inhabitants of this sanctuary. Floral population of the sanctuary includes Dry deciduous Teak forest with Terminalia, Pterocarpus, Bamboo and Mohua trees, while faunal population of the sanctuary includes Cheetal, Nilgai, Wild Boar, Tiger, Panther, Gaur, Sambar, Sloth Bear, Wild Dog, Hyena, Jackal and Fox. Migratory Birds like Stork, Cormorant, Duck, Teal and Ibis are also found in the sanctuary.
How to Reach at Pakhal Wildlife SanctuaryPakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of about 55 Km from the city of Warangal and 230 Km from Hyderabad. Although all means of communication are available to reach the sanctuary from both the places but it is best to use your own vehicle whenever you visit any wildlife sanctuary as the place is usually big to roam around.
One can take a bus to Narsampet, which is located a distance of about 10 Km from the sanctuary and a shared auto can be taken from Narsampet to the sanctuary.
Restaurants around Pakhal Wildlife SanctuaryThere are not many options to stay near the wildlife sanctuary. You can stay at Forest and Tourist rest house at Pakhal and Warangal both. Although accommodation is available here still it is better to stay in Warangal and make it a day trip with other excursions.
